Who Teaches the Teacher in an Algorithmic Echo Chamber?

Imagine the 15th century. Knowledge, like a whispered secret, was held tightly by a select few. Then, Gutenberg’s press roared to life, a revolution in ink and paper. Suddenly, the power to share ideas, to ignite minds, was no longer confined to cloistered halls.

But with this explosion of information came a shadow. Not all books were wisdom; some were whispers of falsehood, tales spun for entertainment, not enlightenment. Literacy spread, yes, but the ability to discern truth from fiction lagged behind. We learned to read, but not always to understand.

Fast forward. The typewriter, a mechanical marvel, transformed offices. Its QWERTY or AZERTY layout, seemingly random, was a testament to human ingenuity adapting to machine limitations. We learned to dance across those keys, mastering a new language of speed. Then came the computer, a blank canvas for our words, forgiving our errors, amplifying our reach. Evolution, we called it.

And so, we embraced calculators, spreadsheets, and programming languages, each a stepping stone in our quest to conquer complexity. We built tools that extended our minds, allowing us to delve deeper into mathematics, science, and the very fabric of computation. But a subtle shift occurred. We grew reliant, trusting the answers spat out by machines without always questioning their origins.

Now, we stand at the dawn of a new era: AI. The machine, once our most faithful servant, now claims to be our coworker, our mentor, even our replacement. It writes, it paints, it composes, mimicking human creativity with uncanny precision. But who taught it these skills? Untagged content created by other machines. AI is trained by AI, a closed loop of algorithmic learning.
